Initial Consultation: we discuss your concerns, your child’s background and difficulties, outline our process and potential treatment options and arrange an assessment appointment.
Pre-assessment: we assess your child’s reading skills using the standardised Woodcock Reading Mastery Test and Gray Oral Reading Test as well as a short spelling screening. Following the assessment we score and compile a report. In addition to giving us an outline of strengths and weaknesses across various areas of reading, the assessment also gives us a pre-treatment starting point, and determines suitability for the Cellfield programme.
Parent Feedback: the findings of the assessment are discussed and we provide a clear explanation of the results. Recommendations of intervention are offered and discussion of realistic outcome expectations.
Cellfield programme: if the Cellfield programme is appropriate, 10 one-hour sessions are scheduled within a 2-3 week period. These are conducted on computer in-centre and facilitated by a trained practitioner.
Post-assessment: directly following the ten hour Cellfield programme, the student undergoes a parallel test of the pre-assessment where the format is the same, but the content is different. This allows us to measure the gains in skill experienced over the Cellfield programme.
Post-assessment feedback: with the parent, involves a review of the outcomes of the post-assessment and discussion of the impact of Cellfield on the skills measured as well as recommendations for future support.
Post-Cellfield sessions: 10 – 12 weekly sessions ensure integration of new skills into everyday reading.
